The invitation is extended to all on their own and not just the homeless..
Can we suggest you copy off the details and physically hand the information out to those who may welcome this opportunity?

Mystery solved...JUDGE JULES, GILLES PETERSON, FABIO & GROOVERIDER and KISSY SELL OUT exiting.

BBCONE.jpg
 What did he say?

My excited friend in the USA pinged the following over and it must mean something to those night clubbers,  the backbone of the Peterborough night economy. I do however hear Judge Jules is in fact taking up a law degree where he left off "to spin the discs on Radio One" and is joining a top law firm or is 'spinning the discs' really dated or just sad? Answers to Paul Stainton on his Peterborough Breakfast Show on BBC Cambs...he likes that sort of thing..   Remember when they ask, you heard it here first:

Top 40 BBC RADIO 1's dance music schedule is getting a revamp effective APRIL 2nd, with SKREAM & BENGA, FRICTION, TODDLA T and CHARLIE SLOTH inbound to host new shows and JUDGE JULES, GILLES PETERSON, FABIO & GROOVERIDER and KISSY SELL OUT exiting.
The new shows include three 2-4a shows, FRICTION hosting MONDAYS, SLOTH on TUESDAYS, and TODDLA T on FRIDAYS, plus SKREAM & BENGA hostiong FRIDAY nights 11p-1a. In addition, a new show, "BBC RADIO 1 RESIDENCY," will be added for THURSDAY nights and will be hosted by a rotating group of DJs.

 A translation might help....

WWF/Heritage Park School

WWF/Heritage Park School

WWF/Heritage Park School

While cooking dinner tonight I answered the doorbell. A young gentleman said he was collecting for WWF/Heritage Park school; only he didn’t know the name of the school and just described it as ‘the school up the road’.

He asked for donations for a tree planting scheme, but was unable to supply any details or any contacts at the school.

I rang the Police on 101 and advised them.

Some time later the Police called back and explained he was legitimate.

The call taker and I agreed it would have been a simple courtesy to advise your local Neighbourhood Watch about this; not to mention saving Police time!

I’ll let you decide if you want to give your bank details or any monies to someone at your doorstep with this amount of information; you probably know what I decided!.......................

Council Meeting - Wednesday 7th Dec 2011

Council meeting Wednesday December 7th 7pm - 10ish
What really occured......

As you will be aware we again attended the above. Our local councillor would have you think he makes his own decisions; the truth is he votes with his party; he has  done on every occasion since he was elected back in May; nor has he ever spoken a word in council. Value for money? You decide......

I  spoke in council as a member of the Public, (of which more later) while we are still waiting for him to open his mouth. Only 3 or 4 Tory Councillors ever speak, I sat behind as others exchanged Christmas cards and read ‘In Touch’ which I think is a conservative news sheet, this is how they use Council time!.

Having put that straight; I’ll report back what I heard last night.

The main point was of course the item devoted to councillors ‘expenses’ they don’t of course call them ‘wages’

I’ll tell you the bits that are missing from our councillors report. He may have voted with his party to freeze the ‘expenses’ just a reminder that’s £7,162 with other advantages I have listed below.
Basic Allowance £7,162

Telephone £569 (+ new iphone)

Travel £227 (+ free car parking)

Councillors are also awarded ‘Special Responsibility payments’, a highly contentious one is the payment to chairs of Neighbourhood Councils of around £7k for chairing a meeting x4 times a year. (You couldn’t make this stuff up)!

We have 38 Tory members, 25 of those receive a Special Responsibility payment.

Cabinet members are paid c£14k extra for their ‘special responsibility’ the council rejected a call to reduce the number of cabinet members.

However, when presented with an opportunity to decrease the allowance and or to reduce the number of cabinet members - our local councillor and  his party declined both.

Things got very heated when Cllr Swift pointed out that Councillors received no payments in his time. Cllr Fitzgerald suggested as they were ‘monitoring’ the contracted out services such as Enterprise Peterborough this entitled them to SRP’s.

No doubt this will trigger another round of character assassination and allegations etc etc by certain councillors who really should be better employed, it is very tiresome but I am reporting what I heard and what I saw. I will write later about the rest of meeting. I fully believe you have a right to hear what actually took place and  not a rose tinted, 'I am wonderful' version.

PETERBOROUGH THROUGH A LENS 2012 Calender Out Now..

Chris Porsz is known as the photo paramedic, his work has been widely featured and we think he has produced a really stunning Calendar.... This is what Chris says in his own words...
I am a local paramedic and have produced a monochrome calendar 'Peterborough Through A Lens' at the bargain price of £6. It is packed with pictures I took of old Peterborough and its characters in the early 80s plus my unique reunions.
A lovely present for your family or that person who you cannot think what to buy. Unlike a tin of Quality Street it will last for a year and changes every month! It will also be my last calendar as I will publish a book in 2012. In March 2012 the Peterborough museum reopens with a two month exhibition of my images.
See more on my website www.chrisporsz.com   The calendar is available from the Destination Centre, Colemans, Reba, Cancer Research Shop and Shrives in Westgate, Save the Children shop,Midgate. Salvation Army, Broadway. Twiggy in Rivergate, Twigs and Bows Serpentine Green. Barn Garden Centre, Friends Hospital Shop and The Central Library.
