A couple of members have reported the antics of what we can only call cowboy/cowgirl gardeners.. The pair have been cutting out lawn turf and topsoil from a front garden to replace it with 'designer type' gravel. Instead of hiring a skip, the pair blatently dumped the lot in a series of wheelbarrow journeys in the trees adjacent to the path leading down to the greenwheel riverside walk. We have both the pictures and a video.
The vehicle registration number involved is being passed on to the PCC for action. However if the dumped garden spoil should vanish within the next few days, it might make matters much easier.
As we all know once dumping and fly tipping starts at any particular location, and it stays unchecked, word gets round and we have an epidemic on our hands.
Any Old Iron, Guv?
PFNW has also been tipped off about a scrap iron and old cars collection leaflet doing the rounds which quotes an Environment Agency licence number. Residents are asked to leave the materials out for collection, our advice is as always where an EA licence number is given; call the Environment Agency first to establish if it is genuine and under no circumstances leave scrap materials outside of your house as you could well be fined for dumping!
