The twig has snapped.....Local Councillor Talks Up Enforcement

Cllr. Harper writes : "The first day and night street survey (?) was completed this week with several areas noted for remedial work including overgrown bushes (residents will be contacted by the enforcement officer where necessary)"

This line on Cllr Harpers party political blog had some disabled residents worried and has generated a few telephone calls so we have investigated on your behalf. As we all have been constantly surveying the streets in our area over time, a quick call to 'Up My Street' has already put dozens of street lights to rights and Enterprise Trash Squad turn out within 48 hours in response to a call to 747474. In the case of the abandoned multi gym dumped on the verge, they were on site within two hours..  We will simply reassure residents and PFNW members that the threat of an army of PCC enforcement officers beating a path to your door is an empty one, they have far too busy a workload in more unfortunate areas of the City, to frighten elderly residents who have let a few bushes and shrubs grow.

If your bushes are however overgrown and blocking the pavement, then commonsense says give them a trim. As it is some residents routinely prune any overhanging branches on our pathways and the neighbourhood autumn hedge trim is due within the next few weeks, so when "the boys in green" arrive with the petrol driven hedge trimmers and mowing machines, its not as a result of any so called survey, all adopted roads with hedges will be automatically be trimmed anyway.

Anyone unable to wield a set of shears, possibly on disability allowance or medically impared, should simply call 747474 and ask for assistance or call us ands we will direct you to the most appropriate source.

The Councillor might also like to take a look around the back of the Community Centre where the hedges have not been cut for years...and when we last checked wrecked kitchen units were dumped in the purpose built playspace for children...
