RASH OF FAKE WATER BOARD DISTRACTION BURGLARIES NOW!

There have been a rash of distraction burglaries reported to Police this afternoon (Tuesday 10th August) in the South Cambs area, all used the old chestnut of being fake Water Board Officials stating that there had been "an explosion of sewage" and they had to turn off the domestic water supply.

There have also been another three incidents reported to the police in the Suffolk area close to the Cambs border with Newmarket:

12.50 pm in Soham - two males again claiming to be from the Water Board - took money from a jar - again descriptions are similar to other offences, two clean shaven white males, well dressed, black trousers and black jumpers.

1.30pm in Littleport, Ely - Description is one white male 30-40yrs smartly dressed in black suit, a form of ID (fake) hanging around neck although that was not confirmed, slim dark hair and clean shaven, the second male had olive skin, 30-40 years looked like workman in dark anorak, chubby, shorter than first male and clean shaven - unfortunately they got away with a large sum of money

2pm in Balsham, Cambridge - 2 white males, one in 20s one in 30s, dark tops one taller than other, one was either bald or very short cropped hair - tried to get occupant to stay in his bathroom, he became suspicious and pulled emergency cord and they ran off

Police say the reason to raise the alert to NHW and other partner agencies in Peterborough is that the City is only an hour's drive away, police need to get the message out to you all very quickly - please keep an eye on any elderly relatives or neighbours and report any suspicious behaviour to the police on 0345 456 456 4 - if you believe an offence is about to be committed don't delay ring 999
