DISTRACTION BURGLARY ALERT

Carol Aston, Community Safety Unit reports:

Please note the following which has been issued by colleagues from other areas of Cambridgeshire:

A team of men are possibly linked to four recent distraction burglaries in Norfolk and other recent crimes along the North East coast - the story they consistently use is being that of water board representatives investigating after a gas explosion.

During May,  a distraction burglary in Littleport, near Ely - then on the following day 26th May there were five more in Sawston and Cambridge. The descriptions of the two offenders and the story they used is similar to all and the intelligence is they could try this on in Peterborough.

The descriptions:

Male 1: approx 25 years old 6' tall with jet black hair down to his ears, clean shaven, no piercings or tattoos seen. He was wearing black military style black jacket, black trousers and black leather trainers

Male 2: 30s pale appearance 6' tall thick set heavy build with brown brushed back hair - wearing light coloured jacket and grey gloves.

Male 1 was the one seen mainly by the victims

The vehicle used is being driven on false cloned plates - a white Ford Focus with a 58 registration plate - this is a cloned vehicle but there is also the original uncloned vehicle being driven around legitimately with this registration plate, police are aware.

Please spread the word and be aware. Keep an eye on elderly and vulnerable people. If you see anything suspicious call POLICE immediately.
