Jafza, Gazeley (parent company of the proposed Magna Park, Stanground, Peterborough Developers Gazeley UK) delivers bespoke, state-of-the-art sustainable logistics facility to CEVA

EZW’s Jafza, Gazeley delivered its first, state-of-the-art built-to-suit, environmentally efficient logistics facility, eight months after holding the ground breaking ceremony.

Featuring an array of eco- friendly measures, the 63,000 square metre distribution centre was built for global supply chain management company, CEVA Logistics. The development not only delivers new standards of specification to the region but it was also delivered in record time. The project management team facilitated early access for CEVA; six weeks before actual completion date. This enabled CEVA to complete the installation of racking and commence immediate operations on the day of handover.

The project incorporates a wide range of sustainable features including solar powered lighting, the use of recycled and locally sourced materials and state-of-the-art warehouse lighting, complete with motion detectors and dimming controls; a system that uses at least 20% less energy than normal lighting. The suite of eco-initiatives helped the project achieve a LEED Silver rating.

The inauguration of the new facility was attended by Salma Ali Saif bin Hareb, CEO, Economic Zones World (EZW), the parent company of Jafza, Gazeley together with, several of CEVA’s Middle East Management team.

Salma Ali Saif bin Hareb, CEO, Economic Zones World [GAZELEY UKs' Parent Company] said: “The new CEVA facility is a significant achievement that exemplifies the top of the range warehousing facilities that will be the future of logistics infrastructure in the region. Such warehouses are expertly designed and are build-to-suit exact customer requirements; sustainable; as well as strategically located. We remain committed to providing developments that facilitate the long-term business sustainability of our clients. This project, further, reaffirms our social responsibility & commitment to the environment, which form an integral part of our overall business strategy.”

The facility comprises two units; one with 35,000 square metres of warehouse and 500 square metres of office space and the second with 26,000 square metres of warehouse and 400 square metres of office space. The successful construction of the scheme was carried out by a newly formed joint venture between ECC and McLaren Construction.

The project originated from EZW’s global customer relationship with CEVA in Europe and followed on from successful deals in Spain and Italy. The new 63,000 square metre facility, located in the South Zone of the Jebel Ali Free Zone, marks the second joint project for EZW and CEVA in the region. Last year CEVA leased a unique 12,000 square metre warehouse known as the Pyramid Building in Jafza.

EZW provides such state-of-the-art sustainable product throughout the UK and mainland Europe through its European arm. Gazeley UK. It has built to date more than 6.4 million square metres of quality warehouses and distribution parks. The company has a proven track record in the delivery of built-to-suit distribution centres from 10 000 m² on a leasehold or freehold to suit customers’ diverse needs.
