The camera not asleep, just waiting...... and not a good place for 11 week old kittens either! |
Summer Sunday, brilliant weather and then the dreaded sound of a motorcycle on the riverside green wheel footpath scattering walkers, families and toddlers, only this time we had the video cameras ready.
The uninsured green motor cycle already reported several times by residents shot by at breakneck speed with two young people ( students at Stangreound College we found out later... ) on the bike. On seeeing the camera, the pillion numptie let out a string of rather adult invective, but too late the ride was well and truly captured on both video and still cameras, within a few minutes with a PCSO doing the rounds, police quickly established not only the identity of the two riders but they had cheekily swapped the motor bike for a pair of push bikes and were riding back to the riverside!
A few more enquiries and an address was established, a section 56 notice slapped on the parents and should the motorbike be seen again, it is heading straight for the ever waiting Stanground mega crusher....
Kittens saved
Quick witted thinking by two of our younger residents, who spotted a pair of 11 week old kittens huddled together for warmth down by the river on the Green Wheel. Clearly hungry, frightened and dumped, a quick call to Oakdale Vets and they not only took them in, but almost immediately rehomed the pair, brother and sister, with a lady who had recently said a tearful farewell to her long term furry companion. Unhappily all too often cats and dogs are being routinely dumped by the river, so if you should see something like this happening, either given us a call or call Oakdale Vets on 01733 340021 and they will do their very best to rehome any unwanted pets and no questions asked...
