PCC CABINET MEETING Sept 24th 2011

Pinocchio always wanted to be a real boy....
in the real world, the stark reality of childrens services examined by Ofsted

Council Cabinet Meeting Monday Sept 24th 2011

The deferred PCC Cabinet meeting went at a very brisk pace this morning and following a 10am start we were all done and were out in the brilliant sunshine and had our latte and espresso coffees at 10.45, pity about the non availability of soyamilk at Starbucks, however Costa Coffee had Soyamilk, was also cheaper, and busier than Starbucks ... but back to the Cabinet

Very brief agenda which started with the difficult issue of the Ofsted report on PCC children’s services. You will recall John Richards director in place at the time resigned  The report found PCC inadequate on 7 counts, adequate on Partnership working and good on equality.

Cllr Scott said she was ‘not entirely surprised’ by the results and stated other councils were facing similar results. The department would in response be ‘more open’ and would in future issue press statements on progress on a regular basis. Permanent staff would be recruited and less agency staff used. No apology was offered, by Cllr Scott who retains her childrens services portfolio.

Cllr Seaton said instead of a 5 year financial stratergy PCC would move towards an optomistic 10 year plan.

Cllr Lee presented a petition for residents parking on Fletton Avenue. The Petition was agreed with ‘whatever residents think is appropriate’.

Thanks again to Alex and the Beadles office for their assistance.

A full public document will in time be available on the PCC website and on application to the Town Hall.
